how on earth does one be root (superuser) on OSX

despite being the admin as user - there are functions that one cannot do
(and only root can)

made an admin user called root but that did not help;-)

somethings one can do by changing ownership to 'user' from root and then
changing back again but that sucks

anyone know where it is buried or how to view the system with the gui

seems that apple did their best to make unix inacessible to the normal
user

is there no uninstall anywhere ?

I have a prog which's folder and contents cannot be deleted or removed
even after changing permissions to user(me) (and all subdirs)

interested if anyone has any favourite gui style unix untilities they
can recommend
