Yes there are a few, and it really depends how deeply you want to get into it. As far as I know there are no books as yet specifically on scripting Photoshop, but for Applescript in general: Applescript in a Nutshell (O'Reilly) by Bruce W. Perry Applescript for Applications by Ethan Wilde The Applescript Handbook by Danny Goodman Applescript for Dummies by Tom Trinko The O'Reilly book is the most comprehensive but might be a bit overwhelming for a newcomer. Applescript for Applications is a good choice for seeing what Applescript can do since it is full of examples.
