I can and do use an old non-AF shift lens on the S1 no metering but then
digital test shots are very quick compared to 90 seconds for a Polaroid!
I think the big difference with the Nikon AF v. the AF-D is the TTL
flash automation. On the S2 that actually works well, at least with a
Metz 45CL1 and SCA346/2AF adaptor and AFD type lenses. I had very little
joy with TTL flash on the S1.

Forget the S1 unless you are on a really tight budget - the best trade
in I have been offered for my S1 body is �550.00! At that price it would
be too good a bargain for me to sell it!
