Both versions are 7.6

Yours is sub-version 2
the newer one is sub-version 15

Does that make it any clearer? The sub-versions (my expression, I don't know
what the correct term is) are small modifications to the main version
number. For all its greatness, I find that VueScan tends to have far too
many of these minor tweaks. If you follow version tracker, there is a new
sub version every week it seems, usually just to add more scanners etc. No
major mods are done at this level (or at least shouldn't be). They would be
in the next revision 7.7
