Also every other manufacturer I spoke to apart from Nikon has a true world wide guarantee but Kodak's is selective on where you by the camera

Are you able to elaborate any more on this? As you know, the biggest drawback to buying outside UK seems to be the uncertainty of the warranty situation. I'm told quite categorically by the supplier in Hong Kong that Canon warranty is HK only and not covered in UK. But you seem to have been told different. Do you (or anyone else?) have a name and email and phone of someone in Canon that I can talk to about this?
