It does sound like a missing pixel. About a year ago I experienced similar with my Olympus E10. To test the chip I shot a frame of pure black (Leicestershire sky! If you use black fabric or anything like that you will confuse dust with pixels.) and enlarged it big enough to see individual pixels. To my dismay several pixels were white, ie missing, in the frame. The camera went back to Olympus, just within guarantee, phew, and they put something called 'pixel mapping' in it.
