Nope, tell him to be looking for "Nikon View" in fact, you can get a free
copy of it on the Nikon web site.

HOWEVER, this is only rudimentary processing, allowing one to view the NEF
and save it as a TIF or JPEG; there's also a PS plug in which allows PS
users to pull a RAW (NEF) file into PS and work it from there (and I'm not
talking about the new Adobe RAW program).

Nikon's separate program for NEF manipulation is called "Nikon Capture."

Free 30-day full working trial and when that stops working, you have limited
(one file at a time) use of the program.
