I should have mentioned it's not done for X yet - plus if you like it can be used with
a selection of meters.

yes, I should have mentioned that.
Colorblind are hanging about with the X verison, it seems like a lot of work.

Perhaps the classic launch fixes the issue I describe below?
Prove it works differently to the other calibration/profiling SWs - like others it
makes a calibration (LUT) first then a profile of the calibrated screen - but Prove
it! segregates the result such that the calibration LUT needs loading to the video
card by a startup utility - it's kind of 2 separate halves of what has now become a
combined item in most monitor profiles.
Apparently (I never tried it) - you can relink the 2 using a special application -
resulting in an X compatible combined cal and profile - OSX will now load the LUT
which is, of course, essential (Colorblind mention such a utility on their
(www.color.com) site but I've been able to find out no more about it even though I've
written to them).
If you don't relink the parts produced by Prove it! before transferring the profile to
X - you get your profile but no calibration - so only half the job is transferred to
OSX. Perhaps you're fixing this by starting classsic?
Shame isn't it - because Prove it! is a great application, Joseph Holmes - who led the
development team - is a penpal of mine (www.josephholmes.com) and I'd like to have
seen him make a buck on it. They'd likely have made a fortune if they'd been cleverer
about the licencing. I hate to think how many <shared> copies there are out there.
You can use the Sequel Chroma 4 (The Prove it! meter) with basICColor SW - at 60 quid
that's a good option for OSX compatability now. You need it on every station as they
tied up licencing tight to keep the price down - but you can get site discount beyond
the first licence. [and I admit being a fan to the point that you can get basICC stuff
from me - so watch out for bias in this opinion].
