but why?

""I am a little shocked by the time the scans take: I scan each neg.
with 1603 dpi resolution to get a file of 5x 7,47 inch @ 300dpi which
give me at 16bit a file size of 19,2 MB. With ICE on that takes exactly
10min 12sec!!! (Without the prescan or any other playing around). So I
can do my own math: about 220min for all the negs. and now the""

Dear David and stephanie,

Ed does not support the scanner yet but he will in the next few weeks.

Why are you bothering with 16 bit files when you are reproducing at 7/5
???.

Surely with the dynamic range of the scanner you don't need it. Why not
just ask for a 2 times scan to get rid of the noise and leave on ice.

Surely you can just get the scane setting right and then batch scan the
ones you have by highlighting the ones in the thumbnail section and go
away and do something else. ???

Or batch scan to file in a folder as a tiff in the right colour space
which allows you to free up photoshop to work on the files you have
already scanned. So while the next batch is scanning you have completed
your pshop work, saved and get can do two things at once.

Are you using fire wire or usb. And if its usb are you sure your
computer is using usb 2. As I am using usb 2 on my pc and I can scan a
5400 dpi tranny with ice on and the 2 times scan on in 6 minutes.

Hope that helps

cheers
