I'm wondering if anyone out there has hands on experience with this product
( Pantone Colorvision ) as opposed to the Gretag Macbeth alternative that I
have been considering, not just in terms of usage but also build and
support.

"I've found the spyder easy to use and effective. I've heard some people
really slag it off, but colour management seems to bring out such reasoned
responses in some :-))"

"I have heard all sorts of horror stories with the Spyder. I had one and it
produced a terrible profile. Colorvision could not sort it out. They even
asked me to send them the Eyeone profile (I don't thinks so!!!)"

"In the last week we have just bought the Pantone spyder with OptiCAL.
Viewing a neutral grad at 100% shows very little colour shift. Any slight
shifts I would tend to put down to the monitor/graphics card limitations
rather than the software."

And on the 16th I also received a gratuitous plug from Philip Bradfield at
Soluxlamps. ( off list of cause but recently I seem to be receiving more
mails like this that relate to messages on the list )

"Dear Sam Moxon,

Please take a minute to visit the following website. It relates to your
goal."

If only it did!

Quite a range of comments, two for, one against, plus one other to consider
so consequently I am not much wiser. Steve Bradshaws comments echo what I
thought when the Colorvision was demonstrated but Paul Roberts comments are
quite negative and I would like to know more. As I need to calibrate
monitors, scanner and printers I would be looking to buy the full package
which in Gretag Macbeths case is almost three times the cost of the Pantone
equivelant, anyone on the list using this or the Pantone version or has
anyone had the opportunity to use both other than in a demo?

Regards

Sam
