I had a similar problem running my PhaseOne camera on location using a 4 pin PC laptop
as the camera expects 12 volt power down the extra 2 pins.

I balked at the 450 solution provided by PhaseOne and bought a SiteCom firewire hub
which has a power supply adaptor which provides 12 volts down the extra 2 wires (about
50 quid). I then bought a battery holder from Mapins for about 2 pounds which holds 8
AA Duracell batteries and fitted it with the proper power connector and plugged it
in.. I use a 6 pin to 4 pin connector to go to the laptop and a 6 pin to 6 pin to the
camera (pocket drive?). Works a treat!

I don't know the power requirements of your pocket hard drive but I expect it will be
ok for a couple of hours on the Duracells. Keep a few spare set available.
