Hi Not quite what you ask but, have you looked at Vuescan from <http://www.hamrick.com>? It may be suspiciously cheap :-)) but supports a wide range of scanners, and has a profile building capability. If you've not tried it, have a look at the site. The guy who has written it (Ed Hamrick) puts a great deal of effort into improving it and supporting new scanners.
