The most effective system I've found is PicsPrint, which is shareware, but produces a much better result that the PS contact sheet, as you can tell it the number and size of the images, plus add the file info and your copyright details if you wish.

I don't mind producing a sheet that will be bigger than the CD dimensions and folding it over.
