[PRODIG] Brushes in PS CS hard-edged/aliased

I was working on a job today and all the brushes in Photoshop CS 
suddenly went hard edged and full of 'jaggies'.  I've reset all the 
brushes and brush controls, but to no avail.  In the brushes palette 
the round 'brush shapes' next to the 'brushstroke' are now all 
hard-edged, even though the 'brushstrokes' remain soft edged.

I'm using a Wacom tablet, but using an Apple mouse doesn't make any 
difference.

I'm using a G5 with OSX 10.3.1.

If the program is somehow corrupted and I need to reload Photoshop, is 
there a way of saving the colour settings and other preferences, 
especially the keyboard shortcuts I have laboriously set up (I would 
anyway save a copy of the Plugins and Presets folder)?
