Hi all.

My (limited) knowledge does not allow me to confirm if this is a stupid
question or a valid one, but here it is. Feel free to clarify :-)

I am wondering if I can extract an ICC profile data from a file. As I
understand, what a profile does at the data level is to modify the numbers
in the data as to match some color criteria, as defined by the profile
itself. But is there any software to get the ICC profile in it's original
form? Am I missing something in PS ?

Sometime I get very weird or unheard of CMYK profiles from magazines or
clients in the files they eventually sent to the press. I send them RGB
files(mainly Color Match or Adobe 98, and after the images are published, I
ask for their final CMYK files ). I assume they must be profiles set to
match paper batches and/or ink sets, according to each company's workflow
and the machines they use, and then I wonder if I could get those profiles
from the files and round up my collection of CMYK profiles on my own, this
is without asking those companies, who barely bother talking to photogs
about their job.
