The $1000 dollar instant rebate is the Kodak discount. This came up on another list and I sure got a reply from a B+H person who contributes to the list. It seems to be an American thing that a manufacturer announces a discount/rebate, and then the stores advertise the goods at a price to include the discount/rebate. Nikon had a rebate promotion on a D1? some time ago, and there was a similar confusion about the true price on a couple of lists.
