I've got an Imacon Photo which is just over a year old, though I got a 2
year warranty due to reliability problems when I bought it. I went through
4 machines before I got one which worked, and this one has exactly the
problem that you describe too. It's been worsening to the point where I
can't bear the hassle of switching it on and have been forking out for lab
scans again. I find the only thing that clears the problem is a complete
shut down of everything, reload the software, restore factory settings in
the maintenance menu. It's then ok again for a few scans only. If you
leave it unfixed it rapidly deteriorates to the point that you eventually
get a 'scan' that consists of nothing but pretty coloured lines. And then
it crashes.

This week I've been on to Studio Workshop who suggested updating to
Flexcolour 3.6.6 (I've been on 3.6.2 and I've yet to try the new version),
but in the past the suggested updates have made no difference.

I also know that at the time I was buying mine, a colleague also went
through several machines before giving up with them. I'm at the point of
tackling the issue of a long term non-working machine, as it looks like
Imacon have got a serious reliability problem. Shame, because when it works
it's fantastic.
