glad you like it

at our recent seminar at Apple's UK HQ, Thomas [Holm] and I calibrated
/ profiled 12 inch and 17 inch Powerbooks and 20 and 17 inch Cinema
Displays using basICColor Display SW. The Powerbooks had a very good
match to the Cinema Displays alongside. Of course gamut restrictions
are going to remove detail from some high gamut areas, but other than
that we got a great result.

I find that [free] SW too basic.

However, LCD's do not normally have a <brightness> control like the one
on a CRT [which actually sets black luminance]. LCD <brightness> is
what's called contrast on a CRT.

BasICColor Display SW is just so much better than anything else I've
seen.

basICColor Display allows a Luminance target. It can be very useful.
[However, with Powerbook LCD's they usually have to be run flat out
anyway]

yes, good point
using max it's easy to go back to the calibrated setting whilst also
having the opportunity to lower luminance when working from batteries
on non photo projects.
