Like Paul I have also 'baulked' at the cost of a few plastic bottles and tubes - surely firms marketing them would open up a much wider market for their bulk inks if the initial price of the CIS kit was a lot more realistic. The fact that subsequent savings will be made in no way justifies the rip-off price of these kits. The outrageous price of ink jet paper is also another area where huge profits are being made - how much cheaper must it be to produce compared to the complex multi-coating of conventional photographic paper yet the price is often equal if not more! I now buy all my paper from Paper Spectrum whose price for 50 sheets of A3+ Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308gsm is 89.95 + VAT, MWords price for exactly the same is 145 and Lysons price for their similar 300gsm Smooth Fine Art is 170!
PS I have no connection with Paper Spectrum, other than being a satisfied customer, and I will champion any firm that that is not cashing in on the inkjet golden goose!
