Hi gang. Since I got my Canon 1Ds over a month ago I have mostly used C1 Pro to process the RAW files. I noticed that files that were 'dead on' exposure wise, (highlights pushed far to the right without clipping, judging from the histogram on the camera) generally need a -0,3 tweak in C1 Pro. The same file opened in CS RAW however sometimes needed +0,5! I find this a bit odd, although I can understand that the two programs probably use different approach in their processing. Are other users getting the same thing?
Another thing is that C1 Pro is generally snappier by default. Of course I can do the same in CS RAW; contrast +40 to +45 and saturation around +5 does the trick. I like the fine detail sharpness more in CS RAW, C1 Pro just smoothes things more in similar pixels/tones then CS RAW. Also the fine hue adjustments in 'calibrate' in CS RAW are just brilliant for getting the perfect skin tone. The batch capabilities in C1 Pro are soooo much better though, I know that I can make an action in Photoshop but C1 Pro is much easier, also so nice to be able to do a rough adjustment on the whole batch and then tweak each one very fast. I guess I am saying that I want both RAW converters at the same time. Give me the fine adjustments of hue/colour, sharpness and lens corrections of the CS RAW and then the GUI and batch power of C1 Pro and it would be the perfect RAW converter. What do you think?
