Caroline, I don't think you need to justify your costs. You are selling art and presumably whatever you are charging has some basis. ie: what are your competitors charging for similar items? Nobody cares what brand of paint or canvas Da Vinci used. I think your charge of £60 (~ $120 AUS?) for an A3 is not unreasonable, although it obviously depends what you have printed on it. Perhaps if where you are selling them, similar work is going for £30 it wouldn't hurt to differentiate your product by some explanation, if it is in fact different in a positive way. Many people are aware that inkjets are prone to fading. I have seen small explanatory notices in some galleries here indicating the printing method and info for display longevity which may be reassuring to customers. People buying art will be (usually) buying it because they like the item/images, and quality/craftsmanship. A print that's £30 but is not liked that much won't sell as many copies as an attractive image at £60 even if the cost of production is identical.
