Dear John

I've had serious front focus on my 1ds once. I was a long way from a replacement battery and the battery I was using indicated that it was flat. However I was able to continue shooting with the flat battery and everything appeared normal. Later I noticed a high pertcentage of forward focussed frames.

My theory is that the USM and IS drains power just when it is needed and a focus servo motor fails to work.

Well, its my theory anyway;-)

I am not on any Cannon list, I don't know if it effects them. It would be
interesting to know if it does, maybe it is a digital problem with all
DSLRs.
