Neil: A couple of questions to help clarify. Were you "injecting" the metadata via the Photoshop file browser only, or adding the metadata using FILE info? If injecting via file browser are you using the "append" or "replace" feature? Did any of the Jpegs have "legacy" metadata within them? Photoshop CS writes metadata into the XMP and IPTC "containers" but I believe Fotostation 4.5 only reads IPTC metadata. This might cause an issue, but since you say you are able to read in Fotostation OK it may be an issue of where Fotostation is looking for the metadata on their end. If you also have the same version of Fotostation, and you have the ability to "write" the metadata back to the image with your version, then you might try doing this on a sample or two and send those versions to them for testing. Hope that helps.
