Hello Everybody,

I am currently working on an PowerBook G4 1 Ghz, 1 GB RAM.

Yesterday I tried the Lens Blur filter set at his maximum on 2/3 of a 30 MB picture, it took almost one hour to perform...

I may, without noticeable slow down, work on a 64 MB pictures including 5 layers, but a single up-sized 200 MB not layered slows a lot even for a single dust spot (I see the watch).

So I'm thinking to upgrade to a G5 bi-pro and would be glad to get some pieces of advices and thoughts.

Does the 2,5 GHz worth the extra expense? Or should I prefer the 2 GHz or even the 1,8 Ghz?

Bearing in mind the new technology included in the coming TIGER, see here:

and mostly here:

Which video-card should I buy? I plan for the future upgrade to a 22 inch CRT screen, and I will use now my 17 inch Apple flat screen for the palettes and I think it would be better to get a light separate video card for it, does it worth the extra expense regarding performance and colour management issue.

Should I need an internal fast scratch disk? And if so which one?

I am currently use mainly PS CS and C1 but I plan in the near future use Final Cut Pro for his wonderful slideshows, I don't think I'll be involved more in video in the future.

I think at 4 GB memory, is it enough?

I didn't yet made my final buying decision but I'm looking for a leasing option, did some members had experienced it? What could append if I decide to upgrade for a computer before the end of the leasing?

I plan to buy through the online Apple store but if some member may provide the same leasing and customisable services I would be glad to favour them.

Best regards and thanks for paying attention.
