:) This is unfortunately not an option, since I have a weight limit... > As a reminder, do not forget that USB 2 gadgets will only work fast if the > receiving laptop also carries USB2 connections, otherwise you will be in > USB1 hell while trying to download data from such units and wasting battery > power like in an endless drain. I don't take a laptop with me, just the cameras, loads of charged batteries and this soon-to-be-decided portable storage device. Of course I would never buy anything with USB 1 anymore, this was also in my list of requirements in my first post. > [...] > Probably you can set the record straight from the very begginning by > considering Firewire gadgets,or both. Yep, thats what I do. However, I don't do trips into non-power locations often, so even if the download to my work PC would take long, it would not matter much. Its not a project where I need to deliver as fast as possible, and the download runs in the background, its not that it blocks my computer or something. > Other than that , I will wait for your conclusions after this trip, since it > is definitely a technological challenge with the available tools. That's unfortunately right...it was so easy to bring a bag of film and a analog camera, that's what my partner for this project brings. > Best of luck in your project. Thanks a lot! I will report back at the end of September. And somebody suggested: > Depends on how many pictures? Lots of CF cards would do it. I will take probably 10GB in 1GB flash cards with me, but I need probably more storage space and an external hard disk is cheaper than 1GB cards (they are down to 169USD now, but a 80GB portable hard disk is less than 400USD). These ones: > http://www.intro2020.co.uk/frameset.html > http://www.innoplus.com/html/eng_prod2.htm look like they have too many features I really don't need. But nice design. Thanks everybody!
