:)

This is unfortunately not an option, since I have a weight limit...

I don't take a laptop with me, just the cameras, loads of charged
batteries and this soon-to-be-decided portable storage device.
Of course I would never buy anything with USB 1 anymore, this was
also in my list of requirements in my first post.

Yep, thats what I do. However, I don't do trips into non-power
locations often, so even if the download to my work PC would take
long, it would not matter much. Its not a project where I need to
deliver as fast as possible, and the download runs in the background,
its not that it blocks my computer or something.

That's unfortunately right...it was so easy to bring a bag of film
and a analog camera, that's what my partner for this project brings.

Thanks a lot! I will report back at the end of September.

I will take probably 10GB in 1GB flash cards with me, but I need
probably more storage space and an external hard disk is cheaper
than 1GB cards (they are down to 169USD now, but a 80GB portable
hard disk is less than 400USD).

I was eyeing one of these and a friend just bought the PRO VP331, so maybe
I borrow it and make some battery tests.

These ones:

look like they have too many features I really don't need. But nice
design.

Thanks everybody!
