>Pretty much made my mind up now. Hi Denis I have both the Canon 1Ds and the Nikon D1x. Both of my kits include their good glass, Canon are all L series, except the 50mm 1.4 and all Nikon glass are the ED-line f2.8. Canon makes really great cameras, but somehow I have always felt that Nikon makes better lenses. Take the Canon EF 24-70mm f 2.8L USM, the barrel distortion is very bad, esp. when you consider how much it costs. Plus that lens is always a bit soft on the left side I feel. Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8 is incredible, I find it sharper and shows less distortion than Canons 17-40mm or 16-35mm. The longer lenses from Canon are great however, the 70-200mm IS f/2.8 being my favourite. If you are not stressed, I would wait until Photokina to see both how the new Fuji S3 Pro is turning out and who knows, maybe Nikon will surprise us all and announce that they are back in the race with Canon?
