Hi - although not privy to Canon's algorithms - I would assume that a parameter setting of -2 for sharpening would be the closest to no sharpening for jpeg captured images (there's no doubt some mild sharpening still). I'm not quite sure what you refer to as "normal" sharpening though. The settings are somewhat altered on this camera from previous Canons, it seems - parameter 1 & 2 are fixed settings, & you must then scroll down to 'set' 1, 2 or 3, which are then customisable for sharpness, contrast, tone, & saturation - and these settings range from -2 to +2.
