Hi I posted this the other day, but never saw it appear -- appols if it's a dup ---- I did a review of the PrintFIX last year and stand by my comments in the review. I'd add that there has been an upgrade to the software, but I've not yet had a chance to see what changes it makes (I'm in the US at the moment) <http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/printfix1.html>
Quite a few people contacted me after the review, many of whom found it easy to use and some who just couldn't get it to fly. I think the important factor is a combination of your expectations and particular paper/ink/printer combinations. There are good reasons for the expense of the equipment to 'do profiles well' and the expertise needed does not come written in the manual - see the archives of the list for members who provide such services I have one PrintFIX profile that I use with a particular paper on a 1290 and it is just fine. I know of a wedding photographer who uses it and is happy with the results. I use a rip on a 9600 now, so my own PrintFIX is mainly a teaching tool on some of the local courses I run... Take one never calibrated monitor and a printer, get someone to print a picture. Then do the monitor and lastly a make a profile. By the end of the evening usually several people are looking to buy at least a monitor calibrator :-) (I don't sell hardware/ software btw) -- bye for now Keith Cooper Northlight Images Photography http://www.northlight-images.co.uk +44 (0)780 162 9397 =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
