Thanks to all who responded to my original query about this scanner,
especially Frank Styevko's long and detailed (and, on the whole,
glowing) response
Epson 4870 scanner ordered (yesterday 3.30pm) and arrived today (good
service from Simply Computers) but my main PC needs full reload before I
add it and see how it performs
