I too am a professional photographer of over 25 years and 100% of my income
is from photography or related areas such as retouching.

I have been a member here for, I think, 3 or 4 years. On many occasions
Prodig has saved me a huge amount of frustration and time. I am constantly
astonished by the breadth and depth of knowledge freely available here.
Compared to other newsgroups the amount of inappropriate material is close
to zero. I suspect this is due to a lot of unseen work by the ListMoms.
Personally I don't mind the questions about blocked inkjets or the dreaded
"" symbol or computer system problems. I have had them myself - who hasn't!
Some of the questions asked let me know how much I do know!
I only occasionally post if I think I have something to offer the group as I
feel there are many others more "qualified" (and I mean that in the nicest
possible way).
My photography business relies on so many arcane devices and systems that
change so frequently I find it a major chore upgrading/updating everything.
The breadth of "other" none strictly digi knowledge by the keen amatuers and
part profesionals adds value to the group. This place is a one-stop-shop
goldmine of help and the only place I know of where mostly like-minded
professionals can dicuss problems, technical issues and even the future of
our industry and recieve relavent, timely, interesting and sometimes
humourous responses. I even like the irrelavent, irreverent ones. Maybe that
scrap of info on wireless connections or a software problem will be useful
someday.
I don't know about you guys but my photography business and many others here
are one man shows- their is precious little interaction with other
photographers as we are all competitors and clients /suppliers are the main
professionals I make contact with. Logging on here once every day or so is
as close as I get to a beer with the boys/girls at work.

I love Prodig just as it is!! I would be prepared to pay to be a member,
although I think that would be sad as I am sure some members would leave.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Regards,
Frank Styevko from OZ
