If audio is any guide, since OSX 10.3 Apple has provided onboard Audio Unit
processing via CoreAudio, a system which theoretically competes with
pre-existing proprietary plugin formats such as VST, MotU Audio System, etc.

It transpires that all the premier audio applications rapidly moved to
support CoreAudio and Audio Units alongside their proprietary plugin
formats.

I'd be surprised if Adobe don't provide support for CoreImage plugins. If
they don't, and if audio is any kind of guide, some 3rd. party will rapidly
release a hosting plugin to enable CoreImage plugins to run inside
Photoshop.
