Clicio: No one DAM solution is "one size fits all." If iMatch works for you then great. If you need to expand to a multi-user, or server based system to handle an "enterprise" system with users on Mac, Windows and other OS's then something like Extensis Portfolio, or Canto Cumulus is the order of the day. Some systems have limitations in the number of files they can handle, or the type of the files they can handle. Unless things have changed with the most recent version of iMatch, it's still IPTC header metadata only. Portfolio, iView and the latest Cumulus are all XMP as well as IPTC compatible. So long as your choice includes the option to annotate and then push the metadata out to the original file (without corrupting it) then you should be fine for now as you'll be easily able to move to another system down the road. I'd compiled a "Comparative Matrix for Evaluating Image Databases" earlier this year that contains most (certainly not all) of the various features that various Digtial Image Management software packages offer. You can download that from the "programs" page of the Controlled Vocabulary site (http://www.controlledvocabulary.com/imagedatabases/programs.html). Hope that helps.
