>This may prove to be a fun question. I was asked to present a 2 hour
seminar to middle school kids(ages 13-14)...any topic(photography
related) and I probably will have access to a computer lab. Any
thoughts on what I might offer?

How about helping them take better pictures with their mobile phones and digital cameras? Talk about why they cant take pics in low light conditions, against a bright window and such, how the cameras use automatic lightreadings etc, how the chips work etc. How to download into a computer, retouch even, email to their mates... how to use a webcam.

Talk about waiting for the decisive moment, (any moment of interest!), basic composing ideas... What makes a good picture, in their view and traditionally, is there a difference between art and photography etc, discuss. <G>

Basically go to their level, offer them what they want and are interested in (=themselves!) but done better than they know how. I think you may find that you are talking to technically savvy, computer literate young adults, not 'kids'.

Just a thought,
Liisa
