As someone who was been a member of this list for a while, one of the things I have noticed is that the REALLY big guns; the guys and girls won write the books/alpha and beta test the software etc are all now lacking (mostly) from the list. People such as Martin Evening/Jeff S/the digital dog/etc etc don't post anymore. I wonder if this is because they are involved with the 'pay' forums, or whether the ehole 'I've got a D70 blah blah' is putting them off?

Either way, the quality of the list suffers for it....

Paul,

Ed and I discussed the setting up of the Prodig list many moons ago and Ed was the one to get the list started and as you know, continue the maintenance of the email forum which is also now supported by the listmoms who have all done their bit to help keep the list running. I had to bow out of being involved in the day to day running of the list due to work pressures and since then have mainly hung around in lurk mode. So while I may not contribute any more, I still do try to keep in touch with what is going on as much as I can.

I am all in favour of taking part in any forums if the time allows, and spreading my time evenly between these forums. And it has never been an issue about only answering emails on a pay forum. That has never influenced my level of involvement. Basically is not easy when there are competing demands made on your time to be everywhere taking part in email discussions. So that is probably the main reason why I and others are quiet. And also it may be because after a while you get so many of the same questions repeated that one can lose interest, and there are a lot of other talented people on the list who are better able to answer some of the technical questions raised.

Prodig has proved to be a valuable forum for many and it is largely down to the participants to make it what they want it to be. True, I do miss the excitement of some of the early discussions we had, but at the same time I am not too sad if Prodig has evolved to meet the needs of a new generation of digital enthusiasts. But I do hope to add comments and posts where I can.

Martin Evening
