Jorge and Kevin,

We have taken your advice and given the DPP software a proper run and, yes,
you are right we have done Canon an injustice. Hope to be forgiven. Thanks
for drawing this to our attention.

We have been very happy to have the opportunity to liberate ourselves from
the shortcomings of film. Problems with colour and speed, more problems
with labs, and always problems with security, customs, heat and cold and so
on. Paradoxically, although we have learned to love digital, software will
always be the bane of our lives. Perhaps it's an age thing. But Photoshop
is the only programme that we have found really intuitive. Photoshop always
gets better and its applications seem to be limited only by our imagination,
or lack of it. Somehow everybody else's software presents us with as many
problems as solutions. DPP does work well but we've just got used to Adobe
RAW and for editing and metadata we're going to have to work between the
two. It would be nice to think that Canon could have either offered the
total solution or have co-operated with Adobe so that we could enjoy he best
of both worlds. But that's just probably carping.

Both the Mark II and the results seem to justify the considerable outlay so
we don't have a lot to complain about.

All the best for Christmas and the New Year to everyone.
