that was what I found as well, and I couldn't even get that to work (my js
is a bit rusty) - here is my attempt based on a couple of the web pages (<>
changed to [] to fool the net nanny)

[HTML]
[BODY]
[H1 unselectable="on"]Writing text to a local file[/H1]
[script]
function Writxt()
{//Identify selected text
var sText = document.selection.createRange();
if (!sText==""){
                //Write it

document.execCommand("SaveAs","false","C:\\TEMP\\jsjsjs.txt");
               }
}
else{
     alert("Please select some blue text!");
    }
}
[/script]
[P unselectable="on"]Select any portion of the following blue text, such as
"My favorite Web site". Click the button to turn the selected text into a
file. The text will be written to C:\TEMP\jsjsjs.txt[/P]
[P style="color=#3366CC"]My favorite Web site is worth clicking on. Don't
forget to check out my favorite music group![/P]

[BUTTON onclick="Writxt()" unselectable="on"]Click to write file[/BUTTON]
[/BODY]
[/HTML]
