My knowledge of football is pretty limited, but as an outsider it seems
obvious that unless you change the rules so that there is nothing to
gain from diving, prople will always dive.  While the players have
something to gain from throwing themselves on the floor in their
dramatic and battetic ways, it will continue.

Umm, funny that the bad guys shown on the BBC happen to be Portugal. The
English sure hold a grudge. No mention of the Owen dive a couple years
ago nor the quote by Lineker himself that it is part of the modern game.


And these were the same commentators complaining a week earlier that the
referees are handling out yellow cards like confetti. I don't like it,
but unless we accept dozens of bookings in a game it is here to stay.
