I hope the violence between Lebanon and Israel does not escalate into a broader conflict. Israel appeared to have been posed with a ready to go plan, just waiting for some justification to take out the Lebanon threat; a kind of pre-emptive strategy just waiting to happen, very similar to the US war against Iraq after 9/11. Peace.

I remember the smell of napham from the many times they were dropped by the South Vietnamees Air Force station at Binh Thuy Air
Base.
The bombs would be dropped just outside the parameters of the base,
but they
didn't look, smell, or sound like Victory to anyone on the base. I can't wait for the first good movies that will come out about the invasion, occupation, and civil war in Iraq. Today is a time for Diplomacy, not more war and bombs.

Some of us have put time and effort into raising flags, but we've made
no difference. The strategy set in motion and controlled by the neocons
is playing out because they have the money, the power and the press.
They've stonewalled and steamrolled us with lies and distortions, and
will continue to do so until the average person finally looks beyond the
TV and says "that's enough".
They've gotten away with it so far by ratcheting their mission to
establish authority in the ME one or two clicks at a time, giving people
time to condition to each step, creating the illusion of a normal
progression. Evidentially, people are oblivious to the fact that the
progression is headed either over the top or will snap and fall to the
bottom.
It seems that now people are waiting for the UN to step in, as if that
magic rabbit has been patiently waiting all along in the hat, to be
pulled out at just the right moment, and then everything will be fine
and back to normal. Sure, there is a slight chance it will work out that
way, but I seriously doubt it, as the very same gang who orchestrated
the mission have also set fire to the hat.
There's always a silver lining to things, though. If we do crash and
wind up rebuilding, maybe we'll get it right this time.
