Tristan, I had the same problem with a DELL box running SBS2003 and TapeWare. Very flaky performance. It would work great for days and then crap out, then work, etc. Called Dell to fix it (replace the drive on a 13-month-old system). The tech spent 3 hours on the phone with Dell HQ and eventually disabled the Windows driver in favor of the one that came with TapeWare. Not one single problem since.
