If they don't have a strong sense of ethics and morality they will get
into trouble right at home where survival is little or no perceived
issue, and the ones at home often do.
It's often said, and it's true, that you just don't know how people
will behave in life or death situations.
You didn't ever see any of your comrades in 'Nam act honorably and
bravely, did you?
Never before have we sent people to kill, die and suffer for
essentially no reason.
Of course we have. Vietnam was for as much reason as this. 'Nam was for
the row of dominoes (and trade, and the MIC) Afghanistan was against
terror and Iraq was about moving the WMDs to Syria. These are
approximately equivalent.
