Well written piece - read it all. I, too, have been baraged by
"cancellation notices," "second notices." "last chance" and "special
offers" by the dozens since letting my FoxTalk subscription lapse
(after 17 years?) following Rainer's termination. The envelope never
says Eli, Pinnacle nor FoxTalk, but is a generic address in Phoenix,
Cleveland, Miami or somewhere.

When I was editor, one of the perks was freebie subs to other newsletters. So I ended up with about a half dozen different subs, given how they dropped one and added another.

I, too, get their notices... for all of the subs. Some days I get as many as ten envelopes from them. That stack is bigger than the Sears catalog. :)

Pinnacle has always been a dysfunctional company, but while they had developers running the mags, readers could put up with the management antics because they rarely affected the articles themselves. Well, OK, there was that time span with Dian, but that didn't last long. :)

Once things moved down to Atlanta, though, well, it was like when the Whiz Kids took over FoMoCo. You gotta have a car guy running the show if you're going to sell wheels.

Same thing here.
