Why the same government that is suing them as they mandate the standards.
The auto manufacturers have always since day 1 used the best technology for
the job, just as we fight over the best development tool, they constantly
look for the best components that they can use.

These motors are not designed by the ivory tower folks...They're designed by
the engineers slaving away in the gutters, just the same as we do.

You can't blame them if there is no better technology available, and yes I
can hear it now, we have bio fuels, etc..

Folks I live out here in ranching country.
There is only so much corn to go around and it won't supply new York city,
let alone the other cities and it is subject to the whim of mother nature.

This is the whole point is it not? If the manufacturers comply with all
environmental legislation, then they have nothing to fear. If on the othr
hand they do not, then the courts will impose the necessary punishment. But
only due process will determine if they comply or not.

Answer me this, if you do not believe the car manufacturers are responsible
for creating environmentally un-friendly cars, then who is?

And this they are doing as they are meeting all government mandates.
So back to the story, where does California get off suing legitimate
manufacturers that are manufacturing legitimate products ?

As for as damaging the environment, everything that is manufactured damages
the environment in some way, shape, or form.
Should we go back to horses and raising your own food ?

Boy a lot of people would starve, but at least we would be rid of seat belts
and the politically correct people as everybody looks the same when they're
up to their knees in caca...

Many people depend on motor vehicles (commuting to work, visiting
relatives), and they provide many necessary services (pubic transport, waste
collection). Surely the most sensible alternative is not to go back 100
years and ride horses, but for the vehicle makers to research ways in which
their products can be made more environmentally friendly. They have a
responsibility to ensure that the products they make and sell do not damage
the environment. The government could reinforce the message by increasing
the taxes on environmentally un-friendly cars.

Boy do I disagree with you there.
The alternative is to go back to riding horses.

For me it's a simple question.
You don't want my automobiles, I won't sell you no automobiles..
You can walk...!
