What did IBM throw away? I've got code written 30+ years ago that will STILL run on IBM machines, and the architecture they designed for systems management remains at the top of the mountain in a class by itself. IBM didn't do much/enough with the PC, true, but I'm pretty sure we're going to see the day when they bite the bullet and make their OS software run on machines the size of our PC's today. This is already happening with an older version of MVS.
