Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but I wonder if there's a political angle involved here... perhaps they loosened up the entry laws/regulations to get more folks from India here, to foster more good will, to improve the US's political situation w/ India. I haven't heard of any tax bennies or write offs available for that sort of thing (in fact, I would think companies would be penalized for not firing US people first), but I haven't kept up with that sort of thing in a long time. I dunno... just a thought...
