Hi Stephen,

Back in my bad old trucking days I had a set of screens rigged up for my
cab windows and vents, fastened to the window frames with velcro strips.
That and a 12 volt fan or two. Some nights I was really hot.

For winter time I had a 12 volt bunk warmer. Later I also had a unit
that kept the engine and cab warm overnight by heating the coolant. I
supplemented the electrical system with three extra batteries.

One night in Omaha I was so cold that I ran both the supplemental heater
and the engine! I think it was 30 below with thirty MPH winds. This was
before "Global Warming" became fashionable.

One of my trucker buddies had his battery catch fire after he
unwittingly discharged it overnight and it froze while he was trying to
keep warm with the motor shut off. The truck would still start on the
other two batteries that are standard in the system and he would have
had no idea. Once he noticed the fire he had time to pull away from the
trailer before the fire got really going but he lost the tractor.
Insurance co bought him a brand new one.

When these systems were first announced years ago I wanted to try a
night using them, but I quit trucking before I ever found one open at
bedtime. The Internet hookup came way after the heat and ac.
