Think about what you just said <grin>

You drive in and they scan the vin..
You drive in and they look up your vin in their paper files

You have been here before so now they know what you did the previous times because its in your file You havent been here before so now they know that they need to create a file for you as you are a new customer.

Like I said, if you can't do it via paper first, then you can't define it, and if you can't define it, you can' t develop it...

There's not a single application out there that can't be defined via antiquated paper...

I've kept my mouth shut on this one, but one thing I have to say is
that the majority of projects out there are pointless migration and
they are done because somebody is attempting to justify their

I have said since day one that if everybody would forget that they:
1. Had a computer
2. Develop paper forms and then automate these forms after they have
made sure that the paper forms did what they needed, then a lot of
pointless development would be eliminated because the language of
choice is pointless if you stick to the basics...

Shut up!  ;->

It's great that there is more then one OS, or one accounting app.

How do you capture on paper customer satisfaction, and a better way to do
business? What about taking handhelds into the marketplace, and get better
delivery of information to the customer. Say the oil change shop. You
drive in and they open your door, scan the VIN barcode and they know you by
name if you’re a returning customer.

Paper based is so antiquated, with respect to satisfaction, and speed.
