Let me clarify: I use an INI table for some things, but some settings I use the MySQL lookup table approach. There's a case for both.

So what kind of things do you feel are appropriate to each approach ?

Things I want the user to be able to easily modify, like path to database or connection string, I'd put in an INI. Settings for the app that I don't want the customer to modify, I put into my MySQL table.
