Hey Ken - I totally agree with you. The joke about the simple interface
of Apple or Google - it simply does NOT apply when you have a database
system where a user MUST either Enter or Access large variations of
Data. So, even though that Cartoon is Cute - and has been posted HERE to
THIS List Several times - its pretty much a MOOT Point - like comparing
Apples to Oranges. Its simply a Stupid kind of comparison, that does NOT
make sense - and in our world of Data (and, the world of BIG Data is
hitting ALL the various news sources) - a simply Interface of a single
Button or a Single Data entry field - its NOT Viable and is basically
almost A Stupid Suggestion!!!

But that's not a "collect names and addresses" type application. Those

I think one of the biggest frauds perpetrated by the computer industry
is the notion that complexity can really be made simple.
If you have to do a complex task, then you need a complex interface to
control it. If you can replace the complex interface with something
that is significantly simpler, then it can only be for one of two
reasons;
A. The task really wasn't that complex, or;
B. You've taken away more control from the user than you should have,
and you'll eventually have to restore it using a bunch of kludges that
will be uglier than the original complex interface.
