I agree. When I was looking for a language in the Linux world that I could be as productive in as Fox in Windows, Python fit that and then some. It's syntax is clear and everything is included.
  Socket programming - included
  HTML/XML parsing - included
  Email libs - included
  etc...

  Database framework (Dabo) - not included, but easy to get going.

Not to mention, I'm a bit lazy too so instead of learing PHP or something else, I also used Python to do our websites.
