Use "REN" at DOS prompt, or you could use the file explorer to do it.

Step (4) renamed the original location of your user profile in the SSD.

Step (5) creates a symlink at C:\users\ (@SSD) to point to the new location of
your user profile (@ the hard disk).

If you didn't do (4), then you would not be able to create the symlink
in step (5).

You could always google "windows 7 move user folder" to see more
detailed explanation.
